Birchbox – First Impressions

Birchbox – First Impressions

After being a dedicated Lookfantastic Beauty Box subscriber for quite some time, I decided to part and give another beauty box subscription a go. I think it’s quite healthy to see what else a different company has to offer, and that is ultimately why I chose to sign up to a Birchbox subscription.

The theme for the November Birchbox was Disney’s Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Now as a Disney fan myself I was super excited to receive this box. Firstly because it was going to be my first ever Birchbox, but also because I knew it was Disney themed I knew it was going to be extra special.

1.  Polaar Polar Night Cream

I love this night cream, it’s so rich and really helps soothe my dry patches. I wake up with fresh and moisturised skin. You only need a pea size amount of this product for applications as a little bit goes a long way. Score 9/10.

2. Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow Illuminator

I have been dipping into the BB/CC cream market recently, since I discovered my love for the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. This BB cream provides a good coverage, and it is definitely buildable. I have been using this one my good skin days, and just touching up with a concealer for areas that need some extra coverage. I feel this product would be great in the summer as it really does give you a glow. Score 6/10.

3. Dr. PAWPAW Original Clear Balm

I had heard many great things about the Dr. PAWPAW brand so was excited to try this balm. This balm can be used on your lips, your elbows, your knees… wherever you are experiencing dry skin. It’s not greasy at all, in fact it soaks into the skin beautifully. Safe to say this product hasn’t left my handbag. Score 9/10.

4. Spacemask

I enjoyed this product as it was not something I would opt to buy for myself. This is a self heating eye mask that is supposed to help you relax, and most importantly help you sleep. I can definitely vouch for that. I felt super relaxed using this mask. Great as a treat for yourself, but not sure I would repurchase just yet. 7/10.

5. Manna Kadar Diamond Dust Rollerball – Enchanted

Taking it back to the noughties with a rollerball eyeshadow – so retro! I’m going to be honest, on first impressions I was a bit like what the hell. BUT, once I actually tried the product and saw just how flippin’ gorgeous the eyeshadow was I was gobsmacked. A truly wonderful shade that is perfect for the party season, excellent pigment and great staying power. Score 9/10.

Overall I was very surprised with the products I received in the November Birchbox. I feel as though every product will be used in its entirety and I will most likely make some purchases of the full size products. It’s hard to compare the box to the Lookfantastic Beauty Box, but as it stands so far they are definitely on par.

P.S: after you’ve received your Birchbox – if you review every product you received on the Birchbox website you will get free delivery, and 2 samples on your new box. A great incentive.
